Sbragia - No Jones swap deal

Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia says he is not interested in a swap deal with Tottenham Hotspur involving Kenwyne Jones and Darren Bent.

Harry Redknapp revealed last week that Spurs had an offer for Jones turned down after Sbragia confirmed the striker is not for sale.

Reports have subsequently claimed that Spurs could propose an exchange which would see Bent move to the Stadium of Light, with Jones heading in the opposite direction.

But Sbragia says there is no mileage in such a deal and has reiterated his stance that Trinidad & Tobago international Jones is not leaving the club.

"I can't see the point of that one," said Sbragia in the Northern Echo. "Kenwyne is not for sale.

Sbragia is also hoping that Jones has not been unsettled by the speculation after the striker's quiet performance in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home by Aston Villa.

He added: "We have players in the squad who need to go out, but there's no way I want to lose the likes of Kenwyne.

"He hasn't come to see me. I talked to him the other day and he seemed quite happy. What he has to do is try and put it to the back of his mind and concentrate on playing for Sunderland.

"We didn't gel too well up front, to be honest with you and we know that's a problem.

"But I don't think that's because of anything that's gone on with Spurs."
