Beattie - Baggies can beat drop

Craig Beattie believes Sunday's victory over Tottenham has fuelled confidence as West Brom bid to beat Premier League relegation.

The Baggies currently sit bottom of the table after returning to the top flight having won the Championship last season.

However, the win against Spurs was the second in succession at The Hawthorns following glory against Manchester City and it leaves Tony Mowbray's side within three points of escaping the drop zone.

West Brom banished the bottom-at-Christmas curse in 2005 and Beattie, who scored the second goal against Spurs, hopes the club can repeat that act.

"It's a massive result for us," Beattie - who joined from Celtic in 2007 - told the Birmingham Mail in the wake of Sunday's success.

"We know we have got good players at the club with a good manager and good coaches with loads of ideas.

"There is a good feeling at the club and there are plenty of games in this league that we can win. We're confident we can stay in the league.

"The table is the closest it has been for years and everybody believes - make no mistakes about it."

Meanwhile, Beattie believes he has benefited from a three-month spell on loan at Crystal Palace earlier in the season.

"I have been on loan to Palace and got games, goals and confidence, and I feel like I am going to score every time I go on the pitch," he added. "I am confident when I go on the pitch."
