Lokomotiv derail Odemwingie talk

Lokomotiv Moscow have dismissed reports that Everton have approached them over striker Peter Odemwingie.

Weekend reports suggested Everton were lining up a move for the Nigerian international as they look to solve their striking problems.

A possible loan deal had been mooted as Everton look to fill the void left by long-term injuries to Yakubu Aiyegbeni and James Vaughan.

However, Lokomotiv president Nikolai Naumov insists they have not heard from Everton and he ruled out any prospect of Odemwingie leaving the Russian club on loan.

"No formal proposals, no," Naumov told Sovetsky Sport. "Not for Odemwingie or any other player.

"Calls from agents, we do not even talk to them. We just ask the club to send in a letter if someone wants to start negotiations.

"With regard to Odemwingie, then a loan is out of the question. A player who does not get in the team, perhaps, but leading players we can only sell and only then if it is a worthy proposal."
