Moyes wanted better display

David Moyes believes Everton dropped two points against Blackburn Rovers in their goalless draw at Ewood Park.

With Arsenal winning 3-1 at West Brom on Tuesday, Moyes had hoped to use the trip to Rovers to close to within two points of The Gunners.

However, Rovers battled for everything and kept their shape well in a match where gilt-edged chances were at a premium.

Blackburn's best chance was Jason Roberts' one-on-one with Tim Howard, but Moyes believes his side were comfortable at the back throughout.

The Toffees boss felt he side could have played better, but acknowledged Sam Allardyce sides are always tough nuts to crack.

"It's always going to be hard game against a side that are fighting at the bottom," he told Sky Sports. "Sam's teams are always tough and hard to beat.

"We expected more from our players. Apart from the one good chance that Jason Roberts had we made it hard for them to get through.

"They hit us with an aerial bombardment and I thought the boys coped very well with it.

"We're disappointed because we wanted to take the three points, but in the same breath we've had a lot of wins away from home this season.

"You've got no divine right to beat these teams because they've got a lot to fight for and a lot to play for.

"I thought tonight at Blackburn it was not a bad result, but I would have liked to have played much better and passed it better but it wasn't to be."
