Stoke confirm Kelly signing

Stoke have confirmed the signing of Stephen Kelly on loan from Birmingham until the end of the season.

There had been some doubt about whether the deal had gone through, with the transfer window officially closing at 5pm on Monday.

However, the necessary paperwork was agreed between the clubs prior to the deadline and Kelly was only unable to travel to Stoke due to the snowy conditions.

The Premier League stated that any deal which was affected by the recent adverse weather would be given special dispensation.

The transfer has now been ratified and Kelly will stay at the Britannia Stadium for the remainder of the current campaign.

Kelly is excited at the prospect of helping the struggling Potters avoid relegation, telling the club's official website: "I'm delighted to be here now.

"It's been a very long few days for me because I have just been waiting and waiting to see where my future lies.

"But I'm delighted it is here at Stoke because as soon as I heard of the interest I was adamant that I wanted to make the move. It's all done now and I'm a Stoke player, I can't wait to get going."

The 25-year-old has been at Birmingham since 2006 and has also spent time with Tottenham, Queens Park Rangers and Watford in his career.
