Spurs told to show they 'care'

Tim Sherwood has warned that every Tottenham Hotspur player must prove they are committed to the cause - or risk being sold at the end of the season.

Despite big-money investment last summer, Spurs have struggled this term and endured their worst start to a league campaign in their history.

The club have since appointed Harry Redknapp as manager, and the former Portsmouth chief has reworked the squad during the winter transfer window.

Tottenham still remain in danger, just a point above the relegation places, and coach Sherwood has urged the side to demonstrate their fight between now and the end of the term.

He told The Sun: "The manager likes to win matches. He cares. He's passionate about the game and, if he's not getting the results, then he's got the hump, like all of us have.

"Unfortunately, what I'm finding more and more is that managers and coaches actually care a lot more than the players, which is a real shame. But it's a fact.

"The transfer window's gone now and we're going to see which players want a long-term future at Spurs from now until the end of the season.

"We're in a dogfight and they have to roll up their sleeves and recognise the seriousness of our situation and really put in some performances because we're not doing it.

"We're capable of playing Arsenal on Sunday and beating them. But it's when you've got to go to difficult places like Bolton and Wigan and really grind a result out.

"We're not able to do that at the moment. But I'm sure we will - we have to do that if we want to remain in the Premier League."
