Newcastle midfielder Nicky Butt has signed a new one-year deal at the club.
Butt's existing deal was due to expire in the summer, but the club have tied him down for a further 12 months.
The former Manchester United star has established himself as a key member of the Newcastle side in recent seasons after a slow start to his career on Tyneside.
Butt joins Steve Harper and Shola Ameobi in signing new contracts at St James' Park.
The news is a boost for Magpies boss Joe Kinnear as he looks to steer the side clear of trouble at the wrong end of the table.
