Arsene Wenger accepts Emmanuel Adebayor has not hit the peaks of last season, but is confident his striker will soon be back to his best.
Last term saw the Togo international establish himself as a top class talent, with his breaking of the 30-goal barrier testimony to an outstanding campaign.
In the summer Adebayor was courted by AC Milan in a turn of events that led many Arsenal supporters to question his commitment to the club.
Arsenal and Wenger resisted any offers from the Italian giants but while Adebayor eventually signed a new deal at Emirates Stadium, his form this season has been patchy at best.
Having hit just two goals in eight games Adebayor may be low on confidence, but his manager remains convinced of the player's ability.
"He has not had the same form," said Wenger, ahead of Saturday's game with Hull City.
"At the moment, he is working very hard to come back to good form.
"He had dropped off a little bit, but that can happen sometimes.
"Ronaldo scored 44 last year, and it does not look like he will score 44 this season - because he and Adebayor had exceptional numbers.
"What is important is that he works hard and contributes to the team - if he opens the way [to goal] for other players, for me it is the same."
