Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia has revealed he waiting to see if he will be successful in his attempts to sign a mystery defender.
Sbragia has made defensive reinforcements his top priority in this month's transfer window and he admitted talks are ongoing with a mystery target.
A host of players have been linked with Sunderland, with Fiorentina's Manuel da Costa the latest name to be mentioned with a switch to the Stadium of Light.
Sbragia is now waiting to see if the move for the unnamed defender will get the go-ahead.
"We are still talking away with it and again it is just about time," Sbragia told Sky Sports News. "We won't pressurise anything at all regarding it.
"It is up to club that has him and the player seems to possibly think he wants to come. We are just waiting on a phone call and see where it goes from there.
"It is no secret we need defenders, so it is definitely a defender. Again it is just a case of waiting to get the nod and go-ahead and then we will precede from there."
Sbragia admits he is not a fan of the transfer window after embarking on his first experience of the transfer market.
"This is my first window in transfers and from my point of view it has been hectic," added Sbragia. "A lot of things go on behind the scenes that we basically can't control.
"We hope the player's mind does not get strayed away from things and is totally focused on us, but we know that doesn't happen, so it is a problem to us.
"We have to make sure we get him more focused on staying at our club whoever the player may be.
"From my point of view it is a nightmare because they have got 31 days the agents to make money, in some cases they do it right and in a lot of cases they do it wrong."
