Rooney blow for United

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is expected to be out of action for three weeks with a hamstring injury.

Rooney suffered the injury during the early stages of United's 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

The England striker had scored what turned out to be the game's only goal inside the opening 60 seconds at Old Trafford.

However, just minutes later, Rooney trudged off the pitch with a hamstring problem to be replaced by Carlos Tevez.

After the game, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed he is anticipating being without Rooney for the next three weeks.

Ferguson told Sky Sports News: "It's a hamstring injury so you can't do anything about them so we're looking at, at least three weeks."
