Rafael has silverware in sight

Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva is hoping to boost his medal collection this season.

The young Brazilian has been a revelation for the Red Devils this season, adapting to life in England quicker than anyone at Old Trafford had imagined.

Sir Alex Ferguson had initially intended to phase the 18-year-old in gradually, giving him time to adjust to the hustle and bustle of Premier League life.

However, the youngster has already played a major role for United this season and is hoping to remain involved on a regular basis as the club go in search of an unprecedented quadruple.

"I want titles," Rafael said.

"We are already world champions (World Club Cup winners) but I want more, including the Premier League.

"And I want to make lots of appearances, of course. For me, at 18, it has been amazing."

Rafael's form has been so impressive that United stalwart, and club captain, Gary Neville has seen his place in the side come under threat.

The youngster admits that he has every intention of ousting the England international at some stage, but believes he still has much to learn before he can expect to take the right-back role on a permanent basis.

"We are rivals, yes, but all the time Gary is helping me," he added.

"When we play together, he is always telling me where the right position is to be. He knows so much.

"I want the position of right-back, but Gary has been very good to me."
