Pennant keen to 'fulfil potential'

Jermaine Pennant is hopeful his move to Portsmouth will help him 'fulfil his potential'.

Pennant has joined Pompey on loan for the remainder of the season after struggling for first-team football at Liverpool.

The 26-year-old has recorded just 36 Premier League starts since signing for the Reds in 2006, and he is keen to take his opportunity at Fratton Park.

"I want to fulfil my potential and do the best I can at Portsmouth," Pennant said on Sky Sports News.

"I want to play at my best during the four months I am here and give 110 per cent."

Pennant went on to admit that his long-term future is unlikely to lie at Liverpool.

He said: "My contract runs out at the end of the season so my long-term goal cannot really be to force my way back into the team at Anfield.

"If they offered me a contract I would definitely listen, but I wouldn't want to sign a new contract and sit on the bench every week. I just want to play regular football."
