Crystal Palace have confirmed they have agreed a fee with Middlesbrough for Ben Watson.
As revealed by skysports.com earlier on Wednesday, Boro had finally agreed a deal for the highly-rated midfielder.
Skysports.com also revealed earlier this month that Boro had been leading the chase for Watson after he turned down a new contract at Selhurst Park.
Watson's deal at Palace expires in the summer and a number of clubs were monitoring his situation.
Boro are believed to have had a bid for Watson turned down last week, but they have come back with an improved offer which has been accepted by Palace.
Eagles boss Neil Warnock confirmed Palace chairman Simon Jordan had accepted a fee of £2million and that the player is set to hold talks with Boro officials over a possible switch to the Riverside.
"The chairman has spoken to (Middlesbrough chairman) Steve Gibson - and they have agreed a £2million fee," Warnock told the Croydon Advertiser.
"It is not a foregone conclusion yet. Ben still has to agree personal terms."
If Watson ties up his move to Teesside he will become Boro's first signing of the January transfer window.
