Jose Mourinho has rejected speculation that has suggested Inter Milan could make a move for Newcastle striker Michael Owen.
Owen's existing deal at St James' Park expires in the summer and the 29-year-old has informed his current employers that he will wait until the close-season before deciding where his future lies.
A number of Premier League clubs, including the likes of Aston Villa, Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea, have been linked with a player who has played just 65 games for Newcastle in three and a half injury-hit years.
It is such problems with injuries that have led many to conclude Owen is not the player he was in his heyday at Liverpool and it would appear Mourinho has arrived at a similar assessment.
Earlier in his career Owen experienced a less than successful spell abroad with Real Madrid and it seems unlikely he will leave England for a second time.
"I haven't given Owen any thought at all," Mourinho told Gazzetta Dello Sport.
"The last year he has had serious injuries and he is no longer the Owen we all knew."
