Everton boss David Moyes has revealed he has missed out on two loan targets and hinted he may not sign anyone before the closure of the transfer window.
The Toffees have been linked with a host of players as they look to bolster their attacking options following injuries to Yakubu Aiyegbeni and James Vaughan.
However, Moyes has admitted he has been frustrated in his attempts to add to his squad and he concedes moves for his two targets are dead in the water.
"We were in for two loan signings and both of them look as though they won't come off," said Moyes.
"They were the ones we were after so unless something comes out of the blue, that's it. They were the two we were interested in and they won't come off.
