Kevin Kilbane has undergone a medical at Hull City as he looks to finalise his move to the KC Stadium.
City boss Phil Brown is aiming to tie up a double swoop for Kilbane, and West Ham United's Luis Boa Morte, ahead of Saturday's game against Arsenal.
A fee has been agreed for Boa Morte, while Wigan Athletic utility man Kilbane has spent the day holding talks with the Tigers.
Speaking after the 1-0 FA Cup third-round replay win over Newcastle United, assistant manager Brian Horton confirmed discussions are progressing.
And Horton also revealed that the Republic of Ireland international has been put through a medical by the Tigers.
Horton said: "He's had his medical today and there'll be further talks tomorrow."
Kilbane, who can play at left-back or left midfield, has struggled for first-team opportunities at Wigan this season.
