Hughes has received 'enquiries'

Mark Hughes has received 'tentative enquiries' regarding members of his Manchester City squad but he does not want to allow players to leave until reinforcements are secured.

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, defender Tal Ben Haim and playmaker Elano have all been linked with January moves away from City, while £18million Brazilian flop Jo and fellow striker Ched Evans could make loan exits.

But Hughes - who has a rumoured £100m transfer kitty to spend - is not prepared to let players head for pastures new until replacements have been secured due to injury problems at Eastlands.

City boss Hughes admits he has been approached by other clubs with an interest in some of his players, but he has yet to receive any official bids.

"We have had tentative enquiries, but no offers or bids," Hughes told the club's official website.

"I am not really in a position to allow players to go before we get players in given the amount of players we have unavailable at the moment.

"I would much prefer to get players in rather than letting players go out first."

Hughes, though, is keen to allow younger members of his squad to leave on loan in order to build up first-team experience.

When asked about loan deals, Hughes added: "We'll look at that because I think it is important that certain players need to be tested.

"We will need to see if they can deal with senior football on a regular basis."
