Adams - Boos don't affect me

Portsmouth manager Tony Adams insists that the recent criticism from the club's own supporters will not affect either him or his team.

Pompey's last two home games have seen the team booed off the field after disappointing performances against West Ham and Championship side Bristol City in the FA Cup third round.

Despite losing four Premier League games in succession, Adams looks set to stick with his 4-5-1 formation for the visit of fellow strugglers Manchester City on Saturday.

Despite the fans vocally voicing their displeasure, Adams states that he will not let the critics get to him.

"It's their prerogative, they pay their money and can say what they like, and they pretty much do," he told The News.

"I get on with my job. I fight and work for this football club. I have a good chairman and a good owner.

"I'm just going to battle on with my job and do the best I can with the resources I have. I'm working the club to the best of my ability.

"If they don't like it, it's up to them. I'm doing the best I can. I'm the first one in and the last to leave everyday.

"I'll keep working until they don't want me to no more."

Some bookmakers have slashed the odds on Pompey to be relegated from 33/1 during the final days of Harry Redknapp's reign to 3/1 at present.

With two wins from 12 league games the former Arsenal defender admits that his side are now in a relegation battle.

"I don't know about being in a relegation battle at the end of the season, I think we have one now," he added.

"There are 14 clubs in there scrapping against relegation or for Uefa Cup places.

"That's the way the league is. That's the truth of the matter. So we'll keep on scrapping until we are safe."
