Heskey delight at late win

Emile Heskey believes Wigan Athletic made Spurs look 'really average' in their 1-0 success on Sunday.

The JJB contest looked destined to finish goalless before Maynor Figueroa popped up in second half stoppage time to net the winner.

Although Spurs are full of big-name stars Wigan hit-man Heskey says they looked nothing special thanks to their work-rate.

"The lads have been doing brilliantly," he told Sky Sports 1. "We work hard every day in training and it shows on the pitch.

"They are great players out there, but we made (Spurs) look really average to be honest with you. They are a really good team.

"They might have had a bit more of the play, but the chances came to us really."

Wigan are just two places off fifth in the league following a fine run of form, but Heskey believes European football is still not a realistic aim.

"We're flying high at the minute, but we've got to keep our feet on the floor because we've got some tough games coming up," he continued.

"We're keeping our heads up and hopefully we'll keep the run going. We're a club that is trying to stay in the league.

"Europe is probably too big a jump for us, but we're going to try."
