Harry Redknapp has confirmed Tottenham's interest in Fred but revealed the striker failed to turn up for a meeting.
As revealed by skysports.com earlier this week Tottenham are lining up a move for Lyon hit-man Fred as they look to bring in a new striker.
Lyon are prepared to let Fred leave and Tottenham are hoping to lure him to White Hart Lane.
However, the move could now be in the balance after the Brazilian failed to meet with Redknapp before Tuesday's victory over Stoke.
"He was supposed to come today but didn't turn up so I wouldn't bet on him coming tomorrow," said Redknapp.
"I don't know what happened, the plan was for me to meet him and have a chat with him.
"He's out of contract in the summer so I think they are asking for a small fee."
