West Ham have bid for Spartak Moscow defender Radoslav Kovac, according to the player's agent.

The 29-year-old Czech Republic international has spent the past three-and-a-half years in Russia after joining from Sparta Prague.

Kovac is very much a player in demand with the likes of Celtic, Hannover and Udinese also reportedly in the hunt for his services.

Kovac's agent Pavel Zika has confirmed his client is interested in playing in England's Premier League.

"I confirm that we have been in talks with West Ham. Radek is very interested by the possibility of playing in the Premier League," he told deniksport.cz.

Spartak's owner Valeri Karpin has confirmed to Sport-Express that West Ham have bid for Kovac, although they are just one of a number of clubs in for the £4million-rated stopper.

"We have received an official offer from West Ham," said Karpin. "The same counts for some other English and Spanish clubs.

"I cannot reveal the names now as it depends on the player which club he will decide to move to. The whole deal might be finalised on Wednesday, though."
