Jermain Defoe is confident he can win trophies at Tottenham and help the club climb out of trouble.
Defoe completed his move back to White Hart Lane on Friday morning after Spurs agreed a deal with Portsmouth earlier in the week.
The striker only left Tottenham 12 months ago but he is pleased to have returned and relishing the challenge ahead of him.
"Obviously there are different faces and a new manager who I obviously know but it feels like I was here not too long ago," he told Sky Sports News.
Asked whether the presence of Harry Redknapp in the dugout was a factor in his decision, Defoe replied: "It was a big factor. Obviously I was with Harry when I was at West Ham and then again at Portsmouth."
Defoe joins a Spurs side that has struggled in the Premier League all season and is currently just above the relegation zone on goal difference.
However, Defoe is confident Spurs have the ability to turn the corner and also mount a strong challenge for success in one of the cup competitions.
"If you look at the squad we have a lot of international players," he said.
"It is just unfortunate that we are in this situation but the league is really tight this year and we will be looking to push up the table.
"Everyone at the club knows and we are good enough to rectify that. I am looking forward to the challenge.
"You play football to win trophies and I believe I can definitely do that here."
Defoe has managed to score on his debut for four different clubs and he hopes to continue that run if selected to face Wigan on Sunday.
He said: "If I don't score and we get three points that is the most important thing, but as a forward you obviously want to score in every game you play."
Defoe believes he can forge a potent partnership with Russian forward Roman Pavlyuchenko, adding: "I trained with him today for the first time and he is a fantastic player.
"I am looking forward to teaming up with him and Darren Bent as well."
