Tottenham have made an enquiry about Inter Milan striker Hernan Crespo after ending their interest in Adriano.
Harry Redknapp has been linked with a whole host of players in the January transfer window, with the Spurs chief having had a bid for Craig Bellamy rejected.
West Ham are adamant in their stance that the Welshman will not be sold and it now appears Redknapp is forming a back-up plan.
Adriano was mooted as a target but it is Inter team-mate Crespo that Redknapp is keen to bring to White Hart Lane.
The Argentine hit-man is well acquainted with the Premier League having experienced an indifferent spell in England while at Chelsea.
Redknapp is keen to bring in a proven goalscorer, to possibly partner new boy Jermain Defoe, and it would appear Crespo could provide a useful stop-gap solution.
Earlier on Friday, Inter chief Jose Mourinho told Sky Sports News he was keen to sign Tottenham's out-of-favour midfielder Jermaine Jenas.
