Wigan manager Steve Bruce has praised his side after their narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Despite falling behind in the first minute, Wigan looked a continuous threat especially in the second half as United began to look more anxious as the game wore on.
But despite their best efforts Bruce's side could not find the killer pass to take what some would argue as a deserved point.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson handed out the highest praise to the Latics after the game by declaring them the best side to visit Old Trafford so far this season.
Bruce acknowledged the compliment and stated that his players can be proud of their performance.
"We have had the worst possible start that could happen to us," Bruce told Sky Sports.
"But we got over it and second half we have given as good as we got and fair play to them against the best team in the world we have given a good account of ourselves."
Bruce was not surprised at the high level of performance from some of his players, highlighting why a number of them are being tracked by bigger clubs.
"We have got some good players at the club, you have seen that for yourself tonight," the Latics boss added.
"Palacios and Valencia and the back four, there were some wonderful performances."
The loss brought an end to the club's unbeaten run in the league which has seen them win their last four games in a row but Bruce admits his side must bounce back.
"It was there for everyone to see. We must get over it, we haven't got the biggest of squads but we will get over it," insists the former Birmingham boss.
