Brown - We've been done

Hull City boss Phil Brown was left to bemoan the officials after Everton scored an offside goal on their way to a 2-0 victory over the Tigers.

Marouane Fellaini was beyond the last defender when he headed home a Leighton Baines cross on 18 minutes to give the Toffees the lead.

Mikel Arteta then scored an unstoppable 25-yard free-kick on the stroke of half-time to give Hull a mountain to climb in the second period, which they could not surmount.

Afterwards, Brown told Sky Sports that the officials need to start getting their major decisions right, although he admitted it was always going to be a difficult game at Goodison Park.

"They've just gone six clean sheets out of their last seven games, they've tightened things up, David (Moyes) has got them working in a certain way and we came here with a game-plan," he said.

"The game-plan was based on the first goal. I think if we score Everton open up and there is an opportunity to go on to win the game.

"If they score, Everton sit men behind the ball and make it hard for you to play which is exactly what happened."

He added: "All I'm asking is people do their jobs properly. You've got my mate Tony Pulis saying that the smaller clubs never get decisions... the first goal has absolutely destroyed us.

"And what I mean by that, it is offside, it is blatantly offside. The referee can not make the decision, the assistant referee has to make the decision and he's got it, an angle on the far side of the pitch where Fellaini's offside, end of story.

"They score a goal, the second goal - okay it kills us completely the second goal - but it's a bit of brilliance from a lad who is top class.

"So we've been done by a poor decision again."

Asked what he could do about the situation, he replied: "We can just hope and pray that we get the rub of the green between now and the end of the season.

"We always knew it was going to be a difficult year and we started well in the first ten games, but we've hit a brick wall to a certain extent.

"Everton are not brilliant at home - they've won two out of ten, now that's three out of 11 - David would have been concerned if the game had been 0-0 at half-time, there is no doubt about it, but we've been done on a decision again."

The Hull boss concluded: "The bottom-line is we've been done by a decision and that's all I can say.

"It's heart-rendering to see the players in there - their heads are down, their confidence levels are affected on a weekly basis because of nothing that they can put right, it's what the officials have to put right.

"They've got to start getting their major decisions right."
