Brown hopes to bag Bullard

Hull City boss Phil Brown has confirmed he is hoping to complete a deal for Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard.

On Thursday evening, the Tigers had agreed a club record £5million fee with their Premier League rivals for the 30-year-old.

Bullard is now considering a move to the KC Stadium, with Brown admitting it is an 'ambitious' swoop from the Tigers.

However, Brown is optimistic that he can persuade Bullard to join the club, despite acknowledging there is a lot of work still to do.

"There is a long way to go where Jimmy is concerned, but hopefully in the next 24 hours we will have a new player," said Brown.

"It is an ambitious attempt, but it is showing a sign to everyone of how serious Paul Duffen and Phil Brown are in regards to this year's Premier League campaign.

"I will emphasise that there is still a lot of work to do."

Bullard has 18 months left on his contract at Fulham and had been keen to discuss a new deal, only for talks to be put on hold by manager Roy Hodgson.

Bolton Wanderers made an enquiry for the England hopeful earlier this month and he now has the option of a move to Hull City.
