Bolton are weighing up a renewed bid for West Brom midfielder James Morrison.
The Trotters' initial £3million offer for the Scotland international was rejected by their Premier League rivals on Thursday.
Manager Gary Megson has one of the smallest squads in the league and is keen to bolster his side in January with midfield a priority.
Megson confirmed the initial bid was turned down, adding: "Whether we will make a renewed bid remains to be seen as there are other players we are interested in."
Meanwhile, Bolton striker Heidar Helguson is due to complete a permanent move to QPR on Friday after a spell on loan to the Championship club.
