Bolton target Bullard

Bolton have opened discussions with Fulham with a view to a £5million bid for Jimmy Bullard.

Speculation has suggested that the midfielder could leave Craven Cottage during the January transfer window following ongoing reports that contract negotiations have stalled.

Arsenal have recently been linked with the 29-year-old as manager Arsene Wenger looks to bring experience to Emirates Stadium.

However, it is understood that Bolton have taken the first step towards bringing Bullard to the Reebok Stadium.

The Trotters are eager for reinforcements as they look to ensure Premier League survival this season and they are said to be prepared to offer a fee in the region of £5m.

Bullard has impressed at Fulham since moving from Wigan in 2006 and the creative midfielder has forced his way into England manager Fabio Capello's plans.
