Adebayor urges self belief

Emmanuel Adebayor believes it is important for his Arsenal colleagues to maintain the belief that they can go on to win silverware this season.

The Gunners are currently in somewhat of a barren spell with their last trophy coming in 2005 following a thrilling FA Cup final shoot-out win over Manchester United.

What Arsenal's rising stars lack in experience they make up for with effort and enthusiasm, but Adebayor now wants them to start thinking like winners as well.

After a fairly slow start to the Premier League campaign by Arsene Wenger's standards, Arsenal have hit their stride recently and are now just six points off leaders United.

"The most important thing is that we keep on going and keep on believing in ourselves and thinking we can do something. That is the only way we can improve our football," said Adebayor.

"If we didn't believe we could still win the title, we might as well just ask the boss if we could spend the season back home enjoying ourselves with our families.

"Last season we were 10 points ahead of Manchester United and at the end of the day they won the title, so we will keep going until the end of the season and see what we can do.

"We are in a better position because everyone has forgotten about Arsenal. Arsenal are still alive and at the end of the season we will see what we can achieve."
