Adams - We've had no luck

Portsmouth boss Tony Adams felt aggrieved that his side did not get anything out of Tuesday's defeat by Aston Villa.

Despite limiting Villa to just one shot on target throughout the game, it still proved futile as Pompey slumped to their second defeat on the trot.

And Adams, who thought his side gave a much better showing of themselves following Saturday's FA Cup exit to Swansea, feels as though Pompey are on the verge of turning around their recent poor form.

"I've changed ties, I've changed suits - I just want some luck from somewhere," said Adams, whose side have now slipped to 14th in the table.

"There are certainly signs of encouragement I thought they were organised and resilient a very good Aston Villa team, but I thought we deserved something out of the game."

Pompey went down to ten men in the second half when Nadir Belhadj foolishly got himself a second yellow card after reacting angrily to handballing what he perceived as a throw-in.

And Adams confessed the Algerian only had himself to blame for the dismissal. Of the incident he said: "No complaints whatsoever, he was a silly boy and he reacted.

"Whatever people do - if you thought it was handball or not - you don't react like that so no complaints."
