Portsmouth manager Tony Adams declared himself pleased with his side's performance after drawing 1-1 at Tottenham on Sunday.
David Nugent had fired Pompey into the lead on 59 minutes after his shot appeared to take a nick off Spurs defender Gareth Bale before flying past goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes.
Pompey old boy Jermain Defoe managed to score his first goal of his second spell for Spurs on 70 minutes and things could have got worse for the visitors.
Spurs substitute David Bentley crossed from the left and found Darren Bent two yards out, but the striker's header missed the target with the goal at his mercy.
"I was a little bit nervous today," Adams admitted to Sky Sports 1.
"But my team didn't let me down. They were very resilient, they battled and gave Tottenham a very difficult game which we have been doing of late."
Adams singled out two of his players for special praise after the end to end clash at White Hart Lane.
"I'm really proud of the way they performed especially Sol (Campbell) who was fantastic, coming back here was mentally tough for him," he added
"The goalkeeper was fantastic and if we have players like that I think we will be ok."
The former Arsenal skipper was also pleased with fact that Nugent managed to claim his first ever Premier League goal.
"He was playing out of position, he plays through the middle, it takes time to adapt," Adams explained.
"I have given him a little bit of a run, he works really hard, he has got energy and he does a lot for the team."
