Aston Villa winger Ashley Young praised referee Steve Bennett after a reprieve from facing a last-gasp penalty in their 1-0 win over Hull City at the KC Stadium.
Bennett initially pointed to the spot after believing Young had handled on the line from an injury-time corner as City pressed for an equaliser following Kamil Zayatte's 88th minute own goal.
But after protests from the Villa players and consultation with an assistant, Bennett accepted that the ball had hit the bar and changed his mind as Villa held on to climb up to fourth in the Premier League.
"I didn't touch it with my hand. You can clearly see it was going over," Young told Sky Sports.
"The referee deserves a lot of credit. I was just seeing it (the ball) out and we got our reward at the end of the day.
"It's clear, I think, that it's hit the bar and gone over. The referee has given the penalty then changed his mind and he deserves credit for that."
