Tevez - United are the best

Carlos Tevez is confident Manchester United will retain their Premier League crown because of superior strength in depth at Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side, who won the league last season, currently sit third in the table behind second-placed Chelsea and leaders Liverpool, and Tevez is positive.

The 24-year-old, who was credited with four goals in Wednesday's Carling Cup victory over Blackburn, believes United possess the squad to withstand the rigours of a demanding fixture list in the second half of the campaign.

Argentina international Tevez feels the festive period will impact upon Chelsea and expects the older members of Luiz Felipe Scolari's squad, such as Deco and Frank Lampard, to struggle.

"I think they (Chelsea) are a great team," Tevez told Sky Sports News ahead of Saturday's home meeting with Sunderland.

"But I also think that as it is for me, at 24 years of age, it is sometimes very hard to recover and play Sunday and Wednesday.

"I would imagine that for some of the Chelsea guys that are much older it would be even harder.

"I think that the intensive Christmas schedule will take its toll on them because they have some great players but not so much strength in depth."
