No Black Cats contact for Strach

Sunderland have not made an approach for Celtic manager Gordon Strachan, according to the Hoops boss' agent.

The Black Cats are currently without a permanent boss after Roy Keane parted company with the club earlier this month.

Former Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce is the bookmakers' favourite to land the role after he declared his interest in taking up the position.

Strachan has also been mentioned as a potential target of the Wearside outfit, but the Scots' agent, Athole Still, has played down the rumours.

Still told Telegraph Sport: "There has neither been an approach from our side nor any approach from Sunderland.

"It's just speculation. Last week it was (Mexico manager) Sven-Goran Eriksson."
