Sam Allardyce admits he is delighted to have returned to football management with Blackburn.
The former Bolton and Newcastle boss has been out of work since being sacked by the Magpies in January.
Having spent almost a year out of the game, he admits that he is now relishing the challenge of rescuing struggling Rovers.
The Ewood Park club parted company with the under-fire Paul Ince on Tuesday and have wasted no time in finding a replacement.
The club currently sit second from bottom in the Premier League table, five points from safety and without a win in their last 11 games.
Allardyce refused to go into detail regarding his feelings at being appointed as Ince's successor, but is looking forward to tackling the task ahead of him.
"I am very, very pleased but I will not be saying anything else until the press conference tomorrow (Thursday)," he told Sky Sports News.
Allardyce was among the candidates for the Rovers job over the summer, with Mark Hughes' departure to Manchester City leaving a managerial void.
He ultimately pulled himself out of the running, allowing Ince to step in, but insists he did not withdraw his application because of any concerns regarding the post.
"That was all a misunderstanding and I am just happy to be here now," he added.
If Blackburn are to haul themselves to safety this season then a New Year foray into the transfer market would appear to be crucial.
Allardyce remained tight-lipped when asked whether there would be funding made available to him, but a January splurge seems inevitable.
"We will wait and see," said Allardyce.
