Lennon praise for Redknapp

Aaron Lennon has thanked new Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp for giving him the license to torment defenders.

Spurs winger Lennon delivered a man-of-the-match display in Sunday's 1-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers as he created the winner for Roman Pavlyuchenko.

His menacing runs down the right flank also contributed to Blackburn full-back Martin Olsson being dismissed in the first half for two bookable offences.

Lennon believes his form is improving each week and has praised Redknapp for lifting morale in the Spurs squad since replacing Juande Ramos.

"I've been getting better and better I think since the new boss has come in and today was probably my best performance," he told Sky Sports 1.

"But it's not just me but it's everyone in general, he's given us confidence and freedom to play and I think that's it really. He's given me license to get at people and that's my game really.

"It's been a hard start to the season and now we're glad to get out of (the bottom three) again. Hopefully we can carry on and push up the table now."

Though Spurs were unable to increase their lead against 10 men, Lennon was happy to take three points which lift the club out of the relegation zone.

He added: "It was a hard game to be fair. We had a good few chances in the first half and could have killed the game off, especially once they went down to 10 men.

"But sometimes that's what you've got to do, you've just got to work hard and hang on at 1-0, and we'll take that, we're happy with that."
