King ready to win ugly

Ledley King has acknowledged that Tottenham may not be able to play attractive football all the time in their quest to climb the Premier League table.

Spurs moved out of the relegation zone with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Blackburn at the weekend.

They carved out enough opportunities to win more convincingly but King was happy with the way they also held firm defensively.

Tottenham remain in a precarious position as they are just one point ahead of the bottom three, and King realises that results are more important than style.

"There is no point in us being bottom of the league and playing pretty football but not getting anything from it," King said in The Sun.

"When you're down there, three points are always the most important thing.

"I was pleased with the way we dug in and ground it out on Sunday.

"As much as we want to entertain, you have to mix it up at times. But we created enough chances on Sunday to have been able to kill off Blackburn.

"But when that second goal doesn't come, you have to make sure you do enough at the other end. We defended quite well."
