Manchester City have confirmed that goalkeeper Joe Hart has sustained ankle ligament damage and will be sidelined for between three to four weeks.
Hart was injured during City's 2-2 draw at Hull City on Sunday and was forced off after just 15 minutes following a collision with Daniel Cousin.
And City's fears that Hart - who has been forced to miss England's friendly with Germany as a result of the injury - faces a prolonged period out of action have now been confirmed.
Scans have highlighted that the shot-stopper has sprained ligaments in his left ankle and he could now be missing for up to a month.
A statement on City's official website read: "Joe Hart is set to miss the next three to four weeks with the ankle injury picked up at Hull City on Sunday.
"The goalkeeper's left ankle was scanned on Monday, with the damage sustained in the collision with Daniel Cousin confirmed as sprained ligaments.
"In the short term the injury also prevents Joe from joining up with the senior England squad for the friendly against Germany on Wednesday."
