Southampton goalkeeper Kelvin Davis is undergoing a medical with West Ham.
As revealed by skysports.com earlier on Tuesday, the 32-year-old has emerged as a transfer target for the Hammers.
Gianfranco Zola's side have moved ahead of League One side Leeds United in the race to secure Davis' signature.
The former Sunderland and Ipswich goalkeeper is out of contract this summer and is almost certain to leave the financially-crippled Saints.
Zola needs to bring in experienced back-up for established No.1 Robert Green with Jan Lastuvka heading back to Shakhtar Donetsk following his season-long loan deal.
