Wolves chairman Steve Morgan has admitted the Molineux outfit would be interested in signing Reading striker Kevin Doyle.
The Republic of Ireland international has been strongly linked with a switch to the Premier League newcomers and it has been reported that Wolves have already matched the £6.5million release clause in his contract.
Morgan refused to be drawn on whether manager Mick McCarthy had made Doyle one of his summer transfer targets, but was prepared to admit his admiration for the former Cork forward.
He told Sky Sports News: "Kevin Doyle is an excellent player, but we don't talk about the players we're looking at.
"If a player like Kevin Doyle becomes available then we have to be interested, but we'd rather not comment on any individual."
McCarthy has already strengthened his squad with the signings of Serbia international midfielder Nenad Milijas and Doyle's former Reading team-mate Marcus Hahnemann.
Morgan believes Wolves' squad already possesses the talent to compete in England's elite division, but admitted that they were looking to make more new signings this summer.
He added: "We're looking for good quality players to add to the squad, around half-a-dozen players is probably right.
"The squad we have got is good, we have some really good players who will do more than hold their own in the Premiership.
"We were very successful last season, we won the Championship comfortably in the end with 90 points.
"Any team that can achieve that in the Championship where there are so many good teams must be a good team and we just want to add to the squad we've got."
