Prospective Portsmouth owner Sulaiman Al-Fahim has stated that Sven Goran Eriksson is 'not on the shortlist' to become the club's new boss.
The Dubai-based billionaire had an offer accepted for Pompey last week and the takeover is now waiting for final approval from the Premier League.
Reports suggested Al-Fahim had targeted former England manager Eriksson as the side's new head coach, but the suggestions have now been quelled.
Speaking at a press conference in the United Arab Emirates, the 32-year-old said: "He [Eriksson] is not on the shortlist. But nothing is finalised yet."
Al-Fahim also stated he intends to take on the title of club chairman while he confirmed he intends to bolster Pompey's squad, with a UAE international among his targets.
"We are looking at hiring talented English players and I am interested in one UAE national player who is very talented," he said in quotes reported by the Portsmouth News.
