Sven confirms Prem desire

Sven Goran Eriksson has confirmed his desire to make a return to club management in the Premier League.

The former Manchester City manager is currently on the look-out for a new job after being dismissed by Mexico earlier this year.

The Swedish tactician had been linked with a move to Portsmouth, although their takeover is hindering the club's decision on a new permanent manager.

Eriksson believes that most managers around the world would relish the prospect of working in England's top flight.

"I would like to return to the Premier League but I think if you put that question to more or less every manager in the world, then they would like to do it as well," Eriksson stated.

"Very few clubs change managers so we'll have to wait and see in the future."

Meanwhile, Eriksson is backing England Under 21 head coach Stuart Pearce's credentials to one day manage the senior team.

The 61-year-old, who had a successful five-year spell as England boss, believes he has what it takes and the track record to shine in the job.

"If he has proven it at Under-21 why shouldn't he be able to do it with the senior team?" he continued.

"Yes it's a big step, but I think he can do it in the future. Why not?"
