Milijas - I don't fear pressure

Wolves new-boy Nenad Milijas insists he can handle the high expectations of the Premier League.

Milijas, who is waiting on an appeal for a work permit, became Mick McCarthy's first big-money summer signing after securing a £2.6million move from Red Star Belgrade.

Excited about the prospect of playing against the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, Milijas says he is looking forward to stamping his mark on England's top flight.

Looking ahead to a challenging season at Molineux, the Serbian international revealed he is no stranger to pressure.

"You can't play for Red Star Belgrade if you can't play under pressure," he told the Express and Star.

"Fans want Red Star to win the league every season and if it doesn't happen for a year, you have a problem.

"I don't fear pressure, I'm just putting myself under pressure to try to help Wolves make a good start.

"If we can get some good results in the first three or four games, I think it will really help us."

The talented midfielder admitted he had many reasons for joining the Premier League new-boys, including a persuasive discussion with close friend Nemanja Vidic.

He added: "I'm very good friends with Nemanja, who is a great guy and such an important player for Serbia.

"I spoke with him before agreeing to move and he just told me to come.

"He said everything is great for football here and he told me 'just come and see and after that you will stay'.

"I know how he is thought of in England and it's good for Serbia to have a player like that here."
