Liam Lawrence has confirmed he wants to stay at Stoke and is in negotiations over a new deal.
The midfielder still has two years remaining on his current contract after signing an extension towards the end of the 2007/8 campaign.
However, he hopes to become one of the top earners at the Britannia Stadium after playing a key role in keeping the Potters in the Premier League.
The Republic of Ireland international is happy with how talks are progressing and expects to put pen-to-paper on a four-year agreement very soon.
"I don't want to go anywhere. I want to stay at Stoke and spend the best four years of my life here," he told The Sentinel.
"I have been trying to sort out a contract for a couple of weeks.
"I am just waiting to hear back from the club, but am hoping to get something resolved over the next few days.
"I have been down the order in terms of earnings. I signed a new contract last year when I was one of the best players in the team at that time.
"I am not being greedy, but I do feel I deserve to be on a par with the top earners."
Lawrence had injury problems last season but returned to the side to produce a series of eye-catching performances and he is ready to fight for his spot again next term.
He said: "I felt I did really well when I came back into the team. I always felt I could do it at this level.
"I know the club will strengthen, but I am going to be working hard to make sure no one gets my place."
