Larsson admits Blues doubt

Sebastian Larsson admits he is in limbo with regards his Birmingham future as talks over a new contract have yet to yield a positive outcome.

The Sweden international has a year left on his existing deal at St Andrews and it has been speculated the club could cash in now, should they fail to thrash out fresh terms with the midfielder.

Larsson was close to quitting the club last summer following Birmingham's relegation but eventually stayed as none of those clubs to have expressed an interest were willing to match his asking price.

The likes of Newcastle, Blackburn and Wigan were all linked with Larsson and the player admits it could be another close-season of uncertainty this time around.

"I want to play in the Premier League," Larsson told Fotbollskanalen.

"Nothing has happened. We have had discussions for some time.

"I've told them that I wish to concentrate on the upcoming (World Cup) qualifier first and then talk about it.

"Last season started bad since I had my thoughts on other places but then it got better and better."

When quizzed on whether he was aware of interest from elsewhere Larsson said: "I actually don't know. I haven't discussed that with the people around me. We will have to look at that after the qualifiers."
