Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is keen to bring in some more signings after landing Gareth Barry from Aston Villa

Barry is the first of what is expected to be many new faces arriving at Eastlands this summer after tying up his £12million switch on Tuesday.

Hughes is delighted with the acquisition of Barry and he is confident of further arrivals over the next few months.

"Well we are delighted he [Barry] is proven at Premier League level, he is one of the top midfield players in his position in the Premier League which is acknowledged as the strongest league in world football so we are really pleased he is going to join us," Hughes told Sky Sports News.

"I think a lot of players now understand what we are trying to do at the club and Gareth wants to be part of that."

Hughes believes City's ambition helped persuade Barry to make the move to Eastlands.

"Well I think the key to it is we have got an idea where want to be in the next few years and the players need to buy into that idea," added Hughes.

"We can offer players a different experience and hopefully an enjoyable one.

"The next few years are going to be really exciting for everybody connected to Manchester City and players recognise that.

"We are obviously going to go back into the market. We still feel there are areas of the team we want to improve and if good players become available we will try and acquire them, but we have made a good start and we are happy with that."
