West Ham United 0 - 3 Liverpool

Steven Gerrard scored twice as Liverpool kept up the Premier League title pressure on Manchester United with victory away to West Ham.

With the Red Devils not in action until Sunday's derby date with Manchester City, Rafa Benitez's men took full advantage to climb back to the summit of the table.

Gerrard gave his side the perfect start with just 76 seconds gone when he burst clear of the Hammers defence to collect Fernando Torres' incisive pass and rounded Rob Green before rolling the ball home.

Luis Boa Morte's foolish tug on Torres' shirt gave Liverpool the chance to double their lead and although Reds skipper Gerrard saw his initial effort well saved by Green he followed up to slide home the loose ball.

Substitute Ryan Babel made sure of the victory with time running out as he fired home at the second attempt after Green had saved his initial header from Dirk Kuyt's cross.

Defeat dents West Ham's hopes of qualifying for Europe next season, while Liverpool must hope United slip up in their two games in hand to keep the title race alive.
