West Brom can dare to believe they can pull of a miraculous escape from Premier League relegation after beating Wigan 3-1 on Saturday.

A brace from Marc-Antoine Fortune and a Chris Brunt effort breathed new life into the Baggies' bid to beat the drop.

Tony Mowbray's side went into the Hawthorns fixture knowing that a win was essential to preserve their top-flight status and a defeat to the Latics could have sealed their fate.

The hosts started in usual fashion displaying their brand of high-tempo football and they were rewarded for their efforts when Marc-Antoine Fortune prodded home on eight minutes.

The Baggies' woeful defending this campaign may cost them come the season-finish and a rash foul resulted in Hugo Rodallega scoring his first goal in English football with a deflected free-kick on 17 minutes.

With the scores level at half-time, the Albion got themselves back in front when Chris Brunt netted from the rebound of his missed penalty before Fortune put the match to bed in the 73rd minute.

The win, the Baggies' second in three matches, lifts them to 31 points and just three from safety.

However, their goal difference is currently inferior to Hull's and it may yet require four points from their final two matches, which includes the visit of Liverpool, to pull off the another 'Great Escape'.
