Moyes hails Toffees' efforts

David Moyes believes Everton's achievements are even better due to injuries they have had to overcome.

The Toffees lost star striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni for the season last November while Mikel Arteta and Victor Anichebe were sidelined during the second half of the season.

Despite losing a number of regulars throughout the campaign, Everton's form never faltered as they finished an impressive fifth ahead of early high-flyers Aston Villa.

The former Preston tactician's fine work at Goodison Park this term saw him named Manager of the Year for the third time at Tuesday night's League Managers Association Awards in Nottingham.

Moyes, who is now preparing his players for an FA Cup final showdown with Chelsea, has hailed his players' character for maintaining their focus and achieving their goal.

"It's fantastic what the players have achieved, especially in the run-in," he told Sky Sports News.

"From Christmas time onwards we lost players like Mikel round about January time and then Anichebe as well.

"But they kept ploughing away and eventually got over the line and finished fifth."
