Moyes gunning for fifth

David Moyes has urged his Everton players to keep striving for a higher position in the Premier League before turning their focus to the FA Cup final.

The Toffees have already qualified for next season's Europa League and will finish sixth in the table at worst.

They also have a Wembley showpiece against Chelsea looming on the horizon but Moyes will not allow his men to become distracted.

He wants Everton to take momentum into the final on 30th May and is targeting league victories against West Ham and Fulham over the coming fortnight.

Asked about the potential difficulties of preparing for the next two games, Moyes told Sky Sports News: "It is not winding down for me, the Premier League.

"It is getting to the stage now where you have to be playing well to win things or be getting ready to win things.

"We are getting ready for an FA Cup final but we are also trying to get one place higher in the division.

"If we can't we will finish sixth which is still a very good achievement, but we are going to keep working to try and do that."

Everton currently trail fifth-placed Aston Villa by one point and Moyes admits he will be proud of his troops even if they cannot overhaul Martin O'Neill's team.

He explained: "The incentive is big, we want to try and do so (finish fifth) but whatever we do I think the players have done really well.

"They have got themselves a good, healthy league position and I would have settled for this at the start of the season.

"I have no complaints at all."
